Jumeira

The real area of Jumeira consists of a prime 9 kilometer strip of coastline south-west from the port area, but due to extra ordinary popularity of Jumeira its name is used for the new developments for the miles around. Even the Palm Jumeirah is not connected with Jumeira. The actual Jumeira is characterized by quiet streets lined with lavish villas, golden beaches and plenty of options for shopping.
Where to Stay
Jumeira is a dream destination with ultimate luxury, and the rent of its property is highest in the city. There are huge palaces, independent villas and villas in compound with shared facilities. Expected rent of three bedroom stand alone can be Dhs 200,000 to Dhs 250,000 according to the age and specific location. The rent of an odd villa in an older compound is almost Dhs 150,000.
Where to Shop
Beach road is full with shopping centres, the largest of which is Mercato with popular brands and a Spinney super market. Union Co Op and Choitram are located opposite Safa Park, and on the other side of Al Wasl road there is a Spinney centre. Another Choitram supermarket is located on Beach Road as well as the big Spinneys near the mosque end. Madinat Jumeira and Mall of the Emirates are just a few kilometers along the coast. There are lots of laundries, drycleaners and tailors along the Beach Road, as well as number of art galleries and boutiques. Empost is located on Al Wasl Road for postal services, a few petrol stations, and number of banks and ATMs.
Fun & Leisure
There are several independent restaurants and cafes especially in the shopping centres along Beach Road. The Lime Tree Café is wonderful, although it gets a bit busy on weekends and during lunch times. Along the Beach Road is Jumeirah Beach Hotel, the Burj Al Arab and Madinat Jumeirah with full of delights and beautiful bars.

There are a lot of beaches but the public ones are crowded on weekends. The Jumeirah Beach Park charges Dhs 5 for entry, but it is really a fun to be there because of no crowd and the extra facilities. Safa Park is also not very far, and is unquestionably one of the most beautiful parks in Dubai. Mercato Mall has an 11 screen cinema.
Hospitals & Clinics
Opposite to Safa Park Al Safa clinic is the closest government health clinic. Opposite to Jumeirah Beach Park, Emirates Hospital has a 24 hour clinic to deal with common ailments, but they do not deal with emergency cases, however the Neuro Spinal Hospital in the same building has a 24 hour emergency department. Jumeira is famous to have to countless beauty salons and private medical facilities, including dentists, physiotherapists and cosmetic surgery centres.
Where to Study
There are many nurseries in Jumeira and Jumeira Primary School, Jumeira College and Jumeira English Speaking School are all in the area. Easy road networks access makes even outlying schools easy to reach.
Traffic and Parking
Although Jumeirah road is recently get widened but it gets very busy at peak hours. In evening’s traffic leaving the Media and Internet city cause jams. On Friday evenings traffic around Mercato often gets jam.

Getting from one side of the Beach Road to the other is tricky for both pedestrians and motorists although speed bumps and cameras somehow slowdown the speed of the traffic. Parking is not a problem behind the Beach Road but if you are living near Mercato you may find people parking across your drive at busy times.
Safety and Annoyances
Construction in small pockets may create some noise. On the whole roads and pavements are good and y well-lit. But one needs to be cautious because of fast traffic even in suburbs and not allow kids to play out in the streets.
