Al Satwa

Satwa and the adjoining neighbourhoods of Al Bada’a, Hudheiba & Al Jafilya are centrally located and has a wide range of housing options .For singles or couples, Satwa’s bustling life can be endearing. Diyafah is an idyllic pedestrian paradise compared with the rest of Dubai.
Where to Stay
There is a selection of seven or eight storey apartment blocks on Diyafah Street and Al Hudeiba Street (Plant Street). There are also a number of low-rent rooms above shops around the one-way system. To your surprise you can also find a fair few villas too, some old, traditional and run down, others more modern and expensive. For a two-bedroom apartment on Diyafah Street the rent is around Dhs.85,000. But the prices for smart are not much cheaper than Jumeira and cost you around Dhs.180,000 for a three bedroom.
Where to shop
Diyafah Street has number of shops and super markets, the nearest “big”supermarkets include Spinneys on Beach Road and Safestway on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dune centre on Diyafah Street has a few shops, a DVD rental shop and an internet cafe. The new Al Ghazal Shopping complex offers more than 70 outlets of fashion and home wares, and a nail bar, pharmacy and health clinic.

The one-way system is famous for cut-price textiles and tailors, tailors located here are also good for upholstery and cushions. You just take along your measurements and they’ll run you up some snazzy’majlis’ style cushions. Satwa is one of the best places for car spares such as batteries, and small repairs . ‘Plant Street’ ( Al Hudeiba Street) has a number of shops selling plants and pots
Fun & Leisure
Rydges Plaza on Diyafah Street offers some famous casual favorites, like Aussie Legends, Billy Blues, cactus cantina and II Rustico. The Jumeira Rotana has the ever- famous Boston Bar while the nearby Capitol Hotel is home to Henry J. Beans.

Diyafah Street has many independent restaurants like Al Mallah and Sidra for yummy shawarmas, falafel and juice. There are also some Indian and chinese places plus KFC, Pizza Hut and Burger King.
Hospitals and Clinics
The Iranian Hospital on Al WasI Road is nearby and offers excellent A&E department plus a walk-in GP service with free medication. The Rashid government hospital is also at few minutes’ drive away. The Neuro Spinal Hospital on Beach Road has a 24 hour A&E and its Own ambulance, the Belhoul Hospital on Diyafah Street is famous in surgery. The new Al Bada’a clinic (government) is behind Chelsea Tower.
Where to Study
The area has not any popular expat school but there are a number of schools in Jumeira and Al Wasl, as well as various nurseries, which are easily accessible
Traffic & Parking
Diyafah Street gets busy, particularly in evening rush hour, and on a Friday night. The one- way system is constantly busy too, with too much lane swapping and reversing out into oncoming traffic. Diyafah Street and the one-way system have charged parking, but it is not easy to find a space.
Safety & Annoyances
Some of the older areas may have few undesirables, and occasional break-ins have been reported in older villas. The busy traffic on the main roads can be annoying.
