Al Safa & Al Wasi

Al Safa and Al Wasl are separated from beach side of Jummeira and Umm Suqeim by Al Wasl Road, area between Safa Park and Satwa is formally known as Al Wasl, Al Safa 1 & 2 stretch out between Safa park at the north and Al Manara Street, which comes off interchange 3. Accommodation is mainly big villas with expansive price. Amenities are very good. Everything of normal need is available at few minutes’ drive.
Where to Stay
Safa has mostly villas, generally three bedroomed, but larger villas are also available. The Style of villas varies from independent villas to villas in little, older compounds with unique character and established greenery; some attractive new compounds are also built. Some old bungalows can be found but these are mostly inhabited by local families. Most rental villas are found in Safa 1 & 2. Prices for the areas begin from around Dhs 160,000 and go high.
Where to Shop
Most homes are only a couple of minutes drive away from one or more of the large supermarkets or shopping centers, with the Safa area having Union Co-op and Choithram supermarkets opposite Safa Park, the Spinney centre along Al Wasl Road towards Umm Suqeim and the Park and Shop centre half way between the two on Al Wasl Road. All three centers are have auxiliary shops in or around them with a variety of facilities including video rentals, Cafes, restaurants, takeaways , bookshops, ATMs , chemists, liquor shops, hair and beauty saloons and florists.

In the centre of Al Wasl, just beside Sheikh Zayed Road there is Mazay centre, with a Spinney Supermarket, a branch of Gulf Greetings as well as Homes R Us and Pier Import for home goods. Almost next-door is the big Safestway supermarket. Beach Road in Jummeira is also just a few minutes away with shopping choices such as Palm Strip, Town Centre and Mercato. There is also a 24 hour pharmacy on Al Wasl Road, ATMs all over the place, banks in Jummeira, several veterinary hospitals a public library near Safa Park and a post office.
Fun & Leisure
The enormous, verdant spread of Safa Park is a popular destination. The smaller park the Al Safa 2 Park, is situated on street 8A near Umm Suqeim School for girls in Safa 2 and is only for ladies and children through the week and for families for week end. There are number of cafes in and around supermarkets and shopping centers, and many popular takeaways and small restaurants around Park n Shop and in the Safa area.
Hospitals & Clinics
Lots of medical centers are situated both on Al Wasl Road and nearby Jumeira Road but these are mostly all private. There is no government hospital on Al Attar Road, and the first-rate value Iranian Hospital is just down AL Wasl Road, towards Satwa.
Where to Study
Safa 1 has quite a lot of schools including Jumeirah English Speaking School, The English College and Jumeirah Primary Schools. Good nurseries are also there including the Palm Nursery and Kangaroo Kids. The closeness to Sheikh Zayed Road makes Wellington International School a popular option, and the highway makes access to other schools easy too.
Traffic and Parking
This is normally an easy area to travel around in and get in and out of, however Al Wasl Road can get jam between Safa and Satwa at rush hours. Normally villas have sufficient parking and there is usually ample room at supermarkets. Generally people do not walk there, but there are number of quiet streets for a leisurely walk. The open areas add a bit of space and provide places for kids to play. Taxis are easily available around Al Wasl Road but if you are in one of the back street you will most likely have to give clear direction on how to reach your home
Safety and Annoyances
It’s a safe area but one need to be careful as there have been reported cases of petty theft.
