Al Qusais
Al Qusais is located on the border of Dubai. The Area’s largest selling point is the lower rents. It’s near to the border with Sharjah. So if someone frequently travels in and out of Dubai, should be prepared for a heavy of traffic.Several supermarkets, small shopping centres and number of flash government buildings are situated on the main street.
Where to Stay
Accommodation is largely apartment blocks around Al Nahida Road. These range from studios to four bedroom places in new buildings with similar facilities to new buildings in Karama or Oud Metha. It is still possible to get a one bedroom for about 50,000 Dhs. but more common is three bedrooms at upwards of Dhs 100,000. There are few villas in this area available for rents.
Where to Shop
Number of larger supermarkets hypermarkets including Lulu’s hypermarket, Union Co-Op and Emirates cooperative society as well as plenty of smaller supermarkets for daily items are operating in the area. The Al Bustan Centre has a selection of shops. There are number of ATMs and pharmacies.
Fun & Leisure
Most residents head for nearby Deira for a good night out. Fantasy kingdom in the Al Bustan Centre is a large amusement centre, and plenty of open sandy areas and parks, this is a good area for kids. For eating out, there is plenty of choices of cheap restaurants serving Arabic, Indian and Pakistani food. Fast food outlets such as Pizza Hut and Hardees are also present.
Hospitals & Clinics
Zuleikha Hospital and several private clinics are operating in Al Qusais.
Where to Study
Lots of schools are under construction in the area that should catch the attention of students from other areas.
Traffic and parking
The quality of roads is very good and most have footpaths. Traffic and parking in Qusais is not a problem. At busy times driving can be problematic. During peak hours it can get crazy on Dubai Sharjah routes.
Safety and Annoyances
This area is very safe; the only displeasure is noise from aircrafts and problems with the traffic at peak hour.
