Geography

Situated on the Persian Gulf coast of the Arabian Peninsula, the emirate of Dubai shares borders with Abu Dhabi in the south, Sharjah in the northeast, and the Sultanate of Oman in the southeast. Lying directly within the Arabian Desert, Dubai covers an area of 4,114 km² (1,588 mi²).
Seismically, Dubai is a very stable zone and the nearest faultline is 120 km from the UAE, so the emirate is unlikely to have a seismic impact. The region, according to experts, is also safe from tsunami as the Persian Gulf waters are not deep enough to create a tsunami.

Dubai has a hot and humid climate which turns dry in extreme heat. Temperature is recorded to be over 40 °C (104 °F) for most of the year with light (about 150 millimetres or 6 in) annual rainfall. The mean daily maximum is 75 degrees Fahrenheit in January rising to 105 degrees Fahrenheit in July.
